Recently, we welcomed S3 student Emily from Carrick Academy to Adworks for a week of Graphic Design work experience. During her time with us, Emily got the chance to experience life in a busy creative agency and work on a variety of client projects.
Throughout the week, Emily explored different areas of Graphic Design, including print design, video production, editing and animation. Some of the projects she worked on included:
- Designing an A4 poster, social media graphic and MP4 for KA Leisure’s summer activities
- Creating public notices for the Ayrshire Post and Ayr Advertiser for South Ayrshire Council
- Designing an 8-page golf membership booklet for KA Leisure
- Creating logo ideas for the Adworks 30th Year Anniversary
- Filming and editing social media content for the Adworks anniversary celebrations
Emily also gained hands-on experience using a range of creative software including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, Canva and Edits.
When asked about her experience at Adworks, Emily said:
“I enjoyed it because it was fun working with other people and it was good to see what its like to work in a place like Adworks”
Fiona and Eilidh from our Graphic Design team said:
“Emily was an absolute pleasure to have in our Graphics Department during her work experience. She brought creativity, enthusiasm and confidence to everything she worked on and was always eager to learn new software and develop her skills. Emily quickly became part of the team and her positive attitude made her a joy to work with. We have no doubt she has a bright future ahead in the world of design.”
We’re proud to continue building our connection with Carrick Academy, especially with three team members being former pupils themselves. It was great having Emily with us for the week, and we’d like to thank her for all her enthusiasm and hard work. We wish her all the best for the future!
